What is DaaS Like a Pro?
DaaS Like a Pro is an independent, community-driven research initiative focused on Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS), VDI, and Cloud PC. Every year we run the End User Computing – State of the Union survey: a global pulse-check on how the EUC industry is evolving — based entirely on real-world data from practitioners like you.
I co-founded this initiative back in 2013 under the name VDI Like a Pro, together with Ruben Spruijt and Christiaan Brinkhoff. As the market shifted from on-premises VDI toward cloud-based desktops, we rebranded to DaaS Like a Pro in 2022 to better reflect where the industry was heading. This year marks our 11th edition.
The results are published as free whitepapers, available to everyone — no paywall, no vendor spin. Just honest, independent data.
A look back: how participation has grown over the years
Every year we are amazed by how many people across the globe take the time to contribute. Here’s how participation has grown:
- 2017: ~580 completed responses, participants from nearly 50 countries
- 2021: 1,647 respondents — one of the largest EUC research projects globally at the time
- 2022–2023: 706 respondents, with deep insights into DaaS adoption and Azure Virtual Desktop
- 2024–2025: nearly 800 respondents, 96% fully completing the survey
We hope to match — and exceed — that enthusiasm again this year.
What’s new in the 2026–2027 edition?
This year’s survey is a blend of continuity and fresh thinking:
- 50–60% recurring questions to track year-over-year trends in DaaS adoption, configuration, and challenges
- 40% new, community-driven questions shaped by input from the EUC community — including topics around AI, Windows 365, security, and hybrid work
The findings will once again be published as a free whitepaper, available to all participants and the wider community.
Key trends from previous years
To give you a sense of what the research has uncovered in recent editions:
- DaaS adoption is rising — with a majority of respondents either already using or planning to adopt cloud-based desktops
- Cost remains the #1 challenge, consistent across multiple years (19% flagged it in 2024–2025)
- Satisfaction is high — over 50% of DaaS users say they are “very likely” to recommend their solution
- Hybrid models are growing — 22% of organisations operate in a hybrid on-prem/cloud model
- Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop remains the most widely deployed solution
The 2026–2027 results will show how these trends have evolved — and where the market is heading next.
